Operating systems that are or have been ported to the PowerPC:
- MkLinux: Linux for Power Macintosh
- Probably the most strongly supported effort. CD-ROM's can be
obtained from Prime Time Freeware.
It is based on the Mach microkernel from the OSF .
- The NetBSD Project
- NetBSD-current includes a port to the PowerPC that includes
OpenFirmware found on FirePower machines. In addition, Dale Rahn has
NetBSD running native on a Motorola Board.
- Linux on the PowerPC
- (I think). A port of Linux to several PowerPC systems including
a Motorola embeded board and the 603 machine from BE Inc
- Sun Microsystems
- Sun ported Solaris to the PowerPC years ago. Unfortunatly, at
present it only has very limited distribution.
